Halo Nightclub in Bournemouth closes after 11 years in business

After a successful 11-year run, Halo has announced its closure.

The establishment has cited shifts in student culture and external factors such as Brexit and the escalating cost of living since the pandemic as the causes of their loss of customers, leading to their eventual shut. Since its establishment in 2013, the club has regrettably had to part ways with over 50 employees.

Owner Ty Temel expressed his sorrow over both the personal and community impact of this closure in a heartfelt message shared on Instagram:

“Hard to believe I’m writing this, but after 11 years, we have closed the doors to Halo for the very last time.

Naturally, experiencing mixed emotions. I have been "Ty from Halo” for over a decade now. It’s been my identity for as long as I can remember in this town.

I started this journey at just 24 years old, as a fresh-faced young man (with a beard obviously), with hardly any experience in the club game or in life in fact.

Saturday, 4th May 2013, our grand opening night, I remember it like it was yesterday. The manager and head doorman were doing the final checks before we opened the doors. My heart was pounding, excited, nervous, scared, would anyone turn up? Would they have a good time? Have we forgotten anything? Where do I stand? How shall I greet people? What am I meant to do? And here I am 11 years later a little older, a little wiser, a few more grey hairs, writing this, looking back at the most incredible journey with some of the best humans I’ve ever met. My Halo family.

I’m proud of what we have created, of the team, past & present, that without none of this would be possible. I’m proud of our loyal supporters that came & partied every weekend for years.

I’m proud we have been going for 11 years as the same nightclub brand, in an industry very volatile & known for clubs to pop up and fade away.

We won ‘Best Club’ for four consecutive years. We’ve brought some of the biggest artists & DJs to our little seaside town, we’ve given people joy, helped them socialise, find their life partners.

The more I think about it, the more I realise what an incredible achievement that is.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers and incredible teams who have made Halo such an iconic venue for not only Bournemouth, but nationally for over a decade.

It truly is the end of an era.”
