Harbourside Park Poole

10-year vision for world-class Harbourside Park

Poole residents had their say today on the future of Harbourside Park, the stunning area of Poole that stretches from Baiter Park to Whitecliff and overlooks Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island.

BCP council says that the area, which already attracts one million visitors each year, is in urgent need of an upgrade if it is to be fit for future use.

ECA, a local architectural and planning company, is leading discussions on the 10-year masterplan, which it is creating on behalf of BCP Council. The public consultation took place at Whitecliff Pavilion and was followed by a walk-about of the area.

Local people who live or work near the park are still being urged to get involved in the vision and help shape the future of the space - and it’s not too late to have your say; the online consultation is open until 3rd October and can be accessed at https://haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/harbourside so if you’d like to see better play equipment, new picnic benches, dog-training areas or anything else, now’s the time to speak up.

Cllr Mark Anderson, portfolio holder for Environment and Place at BCP council said:

“We are committed to enhancing our parks and green spaces for future generations to enjoy, so it’s important that local residents do get involved when we run these consultations in order to let us know how they’d like these green spaces to evolve.”

Cllr Steve Baron, lead member for Poole’s regeneration and ward councillor at BCP council, added:

“Rejuvenating parks and green spaces can act as a catalyst for revitalising whole communities, creating more conducive spaces for everyone.”

The second phase of the consultation will take place in November, with a workshop event focussing on the vision and options.
