Many businesses and venues can open from 4 July

On 23 June 2020, the Prime Minister announced further easements of the Covid-19 restrictions. The businesses and venues listed above - which includes hotels, restaurants, pubs, cinemas, hair salons, libraries and cinemas - will now be able to open from 4 July if they are Covid-19 secure.

New guidance has been issued to enable these businesses to open safely and this can be found on the government website via the links below.

Discretionary grants now being issued

BCP Council has begun the process of distributing £4.3 million in grant support to small businesses eligible for the Local Discretionary Grant scheme.

Between 29 May and 15 June, over 800 local businesses applied for the latest Government grant scheme and the Council has since been working hard to review each case to ensure payments can be made as soon as possible.

All applicants should be contacted within the next two weeks and advised on the outcome of their application and the level ofsupport which will be provided.

Bid for £25million funding submitted for Poole

A bid for up to £25million of funding to deliver transformational change in Poole High Street has been submitted by BCP Council to the governement's £1 billion Future High Streets Fund.

The Poole bid includes a new attraction in the form of a covered market and food hall as part of a mixed-use development offering business workspaces, a performance and arts space for community use, plus up to 40 new homes.
