TV SHOW DROPS IN TO LOCAL ANTIQUES CENTRE

Celebrity antiques dealer Tim Medhurst secretly visited Old Bank Antiques in Royal Wootton Bassett to film for the popular tv series Antiques Road Trip.

Tim, who previously worked from Essex but has now moved to Dorset, filmed at the centre and was hosted by owner Jon White and the episode is due to be aired next week on Thursday November 26.

“It was great to welcome the Antiques Road Trip team to our centre a few months ago. We’ve had to keep it under our hat for a while – and it was all done prior to Lockdown 2. It was fun to be part of this series, to meet Tim and also to get this little moment of exposure at a very difficult time for the High Street,” Jon said.

In fact the Antiques Road Trip team visited the shop twice when filming for the series which is currently on air. Wiltshire-based antiques dealer and tv presenter Paul Martin, also visited for another episode to be aired soon.

Tim said he’d really enjoyed visited the centre which is on the High Street on the site of a bank – hence its name.

“It was so wonderful to go into a centre where there are so many antiques and also coins! Coins are one of my passions and one of my areas of expertise so I spent plenty of time looking at what was on offer. I’m not able to spill the beans though!”

Businessman Jon opened his antiques centre last year in an historic Wiltshire building which used to be a hotel and then was a bank, at 143 High Street.

“This has been a difficult time of the High Street in the midst of a challenging economic environment any way,” Jon said. “To be able to make the most of an opportunity like this was something I, and my staff, are extremely grateful for.”

Old Bank Antiques is a small antiques centre focussing on selling portable antiques including jewellery, silver flatware, coins, toys and collectibles. For more information visit https://oldbankantiques.co.uk
