Iraola delighted to see Cherries storm Palace

AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola insisted striking first against Crystal Palace was key to his side’s 2-0 Premier League success.

The Dorset club continued their impressive run of form under the Spanish boss, having now picked up 13 points from a possible 18 in the top flight.

Centre-back Marcos Senesi netted the opener on 25 minutes for the visitors at Selhurst Park. The Argentinian nodded in following Luis Sinisterra’s flick on from Ryan Christies’s corner.

And Wales international Kieffer Moore came off the bench to net a second late on, heading in Philip Billing’s precise cross to score his first goal in more than a year.

“I’m very happy because I think we needed to win the way we won it,” Iraola told afcbtv.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game, it’s always a tough against Palace. But I think it was key that we scored first.

“I think probably the start of the second half was not so good but after the subs we scored the second one and we could enjoy the end of the game.”

Victory put Cherries up to 15^th in the league table, nine points above the bottom three.

Iraola’s side make the trip to Manchester United on Saturday.
