About: Upton Country Park plays home to a stunning Grade II* listed Mansion House and is one of the most beautiful winter walks in Poole. Boasting 160 acres of stunning woodland, gardens, and more to explore, Upton Country Park makes a great spot for those long winter walks through the frost. With plenty of easy-to-follow paths dotted throughout this Poole park, you’ll be able to enjoy taking in the sights of some of Poole’s stunning winter landscapes.

Distance: Approx 2 miles

About: Corfe Castle is located a short 20-minute drive from Poole but is well worth the trip if you’re wanting to get the kids out the house and into the great outdoors this winter. The village of Corfe Castle is famous for its castle ruins that you’ll be able to visit on your winter walk around this picturesque village venue that also provides spectacular views of nearby Purbeck. Once finished on your walk make sure to stick around and visit some of the villages pubs, cafes, and shops.

Location: Various locations around Poole Harbour

About: Poole boasts the biggest harbour anywhere in Europe and that means there are also some brilliant winter walks to head out on around the harbour as we enter the coldest time of the year. Whether you are wanting to head out on a long stroll along the seafront or prefer a short walk in the winter frost to work off those Christmas treats, the Poole Harbour trail features a host of great walks to head out on. Just wrap up warm and you’ll be good to go!

Distance: Various walks are available ranging between 1.5 and 7.5 miles.

Holes Bay Nature Park

Holes Bay Nature Park

Location: Holes Bay Nature Park, Poole BH17 7BL

About: Holes Bay Nature Park is an idyllic location for a winter walk in Poole with the waterway and surrounding grass and woodland providing rare glimpses of the local wildlife. The park is accessible via the paved cycle and walking route connecting Poole town centre and Upton County Park and throughout the winter, you will be able to see swans, geese, ducks, and more. The most common 5-mile walk is part of the Poole Harbour Trail and is a brilliant place to walk during the winter months with much of the water often freezing over that provide stunning pictures.

Distance: Various routes are available with the most popular being the 5.5-mile circular walk.

About: If you’re looking for a winter walk just outside of Poole, then a visit to the outstanding Kingston Lacy is well worth the trip. This magnificent National Trust property is housed in acres of natural beauty with their gardens, woodland, and parkland, all uniquely different and brilliant walks of their own throughout the winter. Dogs are allowed on-site but must remain on their lead as you take in the sights of Kingston Lacy this winter, so if you’re wanting to get outdoors with all the family as we enter December then head over to Kingston Lacy. Please be aware that non-National Trust members must pay an admission fee.
