Best Running Routes in Poole

Whether you have never ran before, or you are a veteran at running, this guide is for you. Starting from the small park runs, to the longer endurance runs, Poole is a beautiful place with many varied running routes to enjoy.

If you are planning on going on a jog, make sure to wear the right shoes, otherwise you will get some nasty blisters and bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

UPTON COUNTRY PARK – BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE

This short jog around Upton Country Park and then down towards Holes Bay is perfect for all beginners. This 3 mile jog has the perfect views, especially if you are jogging mid to late afternoon.

If you wanted to extend the run, you can potentially run around the Great Britain which will take around 2 hours and will be an extra 3.3 miles (6.3 miles in total). This run is recommended for the more experience runners in Poole.

POOLE PARK – BEGINNER

If you have never been on a jog before and are looking to get yourself into running, then this is the perfect route for you. The short jog around the lake at Poole Park has everything from a stunning view to seeing the wildlife of Poole. This can be done at any time of day or night.

POOLE PARK TO WHITECLIFF PARK – INTERMEDIATE

If you would like to improve the distance & time if you are more of an experienced runner then you can carry onto Whitecliff Park and run back around to Baiter then through Poole Park again, where you started. This route takes you past the Yacht Club and will show you the most beautiful docked boats as you jog past Parkstone Bay. This will take you around 2.8 miles.

SANDBANKS TO BOURNEMOUTH – INTERMEDIATE

As mentioned on our Best Cycling Routes blog, this route is also amazing to take a jog down. The 5.7 mile run will take you through the coastline of Dorset.  With the waves crashing on your right on the way to Bournemouth Pier, this run is perfect for anyone whom has a little experience in running.

POOLE QUAY - INTERMEDIATE

This route will take you from the Poole Train Station right around the Poole Quay, through Baiter Park and then back to the train station. Overall, this run is 3.2 miles, however you can always make it shorter or longer by either cutting out Baiter Park or carrying on through Poole Park and then onto Whitecliff.
